A Short Lecture: To Trade With Allah

All praise is due to Allah, the Lord of the universe,

May Allah give His blessing and salutation upon His servant as well as His Messenger,

Our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and all of his companions.

Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala says, (which means)

"Verily, those who recite the Book of Allah, and perform the salah (prayer), ...

...  and spend out, secretly and openly, of what We have provided for them ...

...  they hope for a (sure) trade-gain that will never perish, ...

... That He may reward them their bounty in full, and give them (even) more, out of His grace, ...

... Indeed, He is Oft-Forgiving, Most Appreciative."  (Al Fatir: 29-30)

In these two noble verses, Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala  mentions that

"Verily, those who recite the Book of Allah, and perform the salah (prayer), ...

...  and spend out, secretly and openly, of what We have provided for them ..."

They are the people who want to trade with Allah 'azza wa jalla,

then Allah will forgive their sins

and give them (even) more of His grace.

These three deeds are three noble virtues of people

mentioned in the two noble verses, those are

reciting the Book of Allah, performing shalat, and giving alms secretly and openly

whether it is obligatory or advised alms,

Those are kinds of glorious trading with Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala.

The Book of Allah 'azza wa jalla, the Holy Quran,

which Allah sent down as clarification of everything,

as a guide, mercy, and good tidings for muslims.

Allah sent down this glorious Book, Al Qur'an Al Karim,

to the Prophet Muhammad shallallahu 'alaihi wa sallam,

Allah sent it down so that the muslims may practice what it contains,

reflect upon it and then practice it,

consider what is lawful as lawful and unlawful as unlawful,

believe in mutasyabihat (unspecific) verses and obey the rules in it,

and make it as their way of life. And the ultimate goal of Al Qur'an is to be practiced.

Therefore Allah says (which means), "... they recite the Book of Allah, and perform the salah, ..."

"Verily, those who recite the Book of Allah, and perform the salah, ...

They hasten to do good deeds which are mentioned in Al Qur'an Al Karim,

give alms both secretly and publicly,

in order to have trade with Allah. Those are three noble deeds,

reciting Al Qur'an as well as practicing it, performing shalat

which is the most important pillar of Islam after syahadatain (testimony of faith),

And shalat is a physical worship which relates a servant to his Lord.

And giving alms is a financial-related worship which brings about goodness among people

and provides various usefulness.

Those are three deeds which become a way to trade with Allah,

Whenever someone does those deeds,

he uses them to trade with Allah,

it will be a trade which remains forever

it is guaranteed and becomes eternal profit,

Verily, people in this world

make efforts, work hard, and get exhausted

to attain wealth and generate profit,

but sometimes they do not get what they desire to,

If they get what they desire to, then they still need more efforts to protect that wealth

from being decreased, lost, or stolen.

Even if they can be safe from all of those risks,

indeed, in the end they will die and leave their wealth behind,

then they will be put into accountability upon their wealth,

how they attain it and how they spend it out.

Meanwhile, the trade with Allah is a profitable trade

which has no loss on it.

Therefore a muslim must fear Allah 'azza wa jalla

and have trade with Allah with eternal and useful trade

which will help him in the day when wealth and children will not be able to help him anymore

"... but only who comes to Allah with a sound heart." (Asy Syu'ara: 89)

Allah knows best. And may Allah always give His salutation, peace, and blessing upon

His servant as well as His Messenger, our Prophet Muhammad, his family and all of his companions.
